Negative taken of Sonny Walker, an early leader of Pulaski County EOA (Economic Opportunity Agency) in Arkansas. A native of Pine Bluff, William "Sonny" Walker graduated Arkansas Agricultural Mechanical and Normal College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) in Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas. He completed further study at Arizona State University, the University of Oklahoma, the University of Arkansas, and the Federal Executive Institute. He began his professional career as an educator in the Arkansas public schools. Walker served in Governor Winthrop Rockefeller's cabinet as head of the Arkansas State Economic Opportunity Office. He served as Director of the Southeast Region for the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity and its successor agency, the U.S. Community Services Administration for ten years under four U.S. Presidents. Walker was Vice President of the National Alliance of Business (NAB) for 13 years then Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Inc. In 2001, Walker current position is Founder and Principal of The Sonny Walker Group, a management consulting/ networking firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.
